I could have sworn I've seen 80 in California.

I do love TX. 80 translates to 85 on I10 in West TX. 80 is what everyone is doing in the rest of the state regardless of speed limit

As a Pennsylvanian: We have 70mph interstates now?

I just completed a 1200 mile road trip. I was so excited to have 75mph speed limits, but my cargo box, bike, mpg, and loaded car suggested I not take advantage. I never broke 74.

I did a 150 mile (round-trip) trip with the highest speed limit of 55. And since I only have a permit, I had to do exactly 55. While everyone else was doing 65+.

Never. Again.

Going with the flow of traffic is definitely safer. On most highways, going 55 puts you at a higher risk of an accident.

I know, but I don't want to risk getting pulled over for speeding. Especially with just a permit. Might never be able to drive ever again!

However, at times I was doing 5 or 10 over for a bit.

Ah. I've been on that from Bergstrom to Georgetown. Forgot it was 85. Did it at 4 am in our Compass. Not a soul out there.

You actually stay at the limit with your permit? Maybe it's different down by the city but I usually go 5-7 over on the highways and around 10% in the towns up here.

Yeah I don't want to get pulled over for speeding and then the cop finding out I've only got a permit. Sometimes I do 5 over at the max.

I do 5 over everywhere but towns and I've never been stopped. Still on permit too.

As of this summer, sections of I-80 and the turnpike are 70. If all goes/went well, it will be expanded.

Awesome, thanks! I've not been on the turnpike since November of '13-ish, nor do I often head out 80 (typically I go up/down 79... a lot). I'll be sure to keep an ear out for future improvements!
